Why we make this magnetic Jewelry...
Throughout our "research", we stopped ourselves several times
and asked, is this magnetic therapy stuff fact or fiction?
The truth is, we still aren't sure. The Internet is LOADED with lots of
different opinions on magnetic therapy. What magnets work best (from
good magnets to useless magnets as not all magnets are the same), how
they work, if they work, on whom do they work, etc. Everywhere we
turned, someone else had something different to say.
Through it all, we found no "indisputable" scientific evidence that
substantiates any physical benefits or lack thereof. What we do know is
that James has been off his preventative medication for over a year now.
Our dog, Ksasha, who is 13 years old and was showing increased signs
of aging and joint problems is now bouncing around (to everyone's
amazement) like she is several years younger. Our alpaca, D.K., who
was diagnosed with severe arthritis three years ago and was hobbling
around the farm (with four legs on good days and only three legs on bad
days), is now moving freely among the herd - no longer limping and using
all four legs every day.

"In the Summer of 2010, we noticed that our 5 year old female alpaca,
Codi's Peruvian Kinka, was not maintaining her usual, good, condition score
even though she was eating well. We continued to watch her and soon
noticed that she was lying down to eat her grain and hay and also to enjoy
long drinks of fresh water. Our vet came out and we did a complete blood
panel on Kinka. The diagnosis came back as cancer. We want Kinka to
live out her days at home with her herd so we are attempting to do as much
for her as possible. We started to give her injections of A&D and Vitamin B
Complex, along with her monthly ivermec injection. We noticed that the
monthly injections were helping somewhat and we continued to look for
more ways to make Kinka comfortable, particularly while getting up, walking
and cushing.

as if a light bulb went off in my head and I thought of how a magnetic necklace might help Kinka. I had Kari
make a magnetic necklace for Kinka and I put it on her on October 12th, 2010.
The next day I noticed that Kinka was getting up easier and keeping up with the herd better as they went
out to pasture. She walked with her back held straighter and her gait was more fluid and she was not as
down on her pasterns. I was thrilled to see these improvements. I knew the magnets couldn't hurt her, but
I was amazed at how quickly I could see a difference in her presence - she looked like she felt better.
Several weeks later when I came back from one of the fall shows, I noticed that Kinka was back down on
her pasterns and she wasn't as upbeat. I quickly looked for her necklace and it was missing. I knew I
wanted to replace it for her as soon as possible. Kari made Kinka another necklace, this time with a
heavier duty magnetic clasp. We saw improvements once again. I was so pleased with how the magnets
helped Kinka that I purchased a necklace for a friend of mine whose alpaca had been injured in a fall.
Kinka is still with us. Her condition score is not where we would like it to be, but she is still wearing her
necklace and does not appear to be in pain. I tell her everyday how pretty she looks in her necklace. She
pulls her head back, looking down her neck, as if to say "I know." Kinka is a very special alpaca with a very
special necklace that is helping her to live her days out in as much comfort as possible. We wouldn't have
it any other way."
While some people may say "Ahhh, that magnetic therapy stuff is quackery" or simply say it
works because people want it to work (the placebo effect), alpacas and other animals certainly don't
know that they are participating in magnetic therapy. Yet we see improvements in their conditions. We
don't think the improvements could be figments of their imaginations.
